Research into the cost of online safety issues

I mentioned at our last IGDA Online Safety SIG meeting that many businesses could benefit from research on the true costs of online safety issues. eg When a user abandons a site plagued by trolls or cyber bullies, what is the opportunity cost of that lost customer? Or what affect does griefing have on games? or is there a difference between the number of page views on adequately moderated sites versus little to no moderation?

Any thoughts on whether this sounds useful? And any companies interested in participating by providing questions to survey?

Thanks in advance,

Yes, of course, that sounds interesting and surveys are easy! Maybe set up an online survey and post a link?
